Because of its all-in one package, laptops take little space on a desk at home. The monitor, keyboard, speakers, mouse and CPU are all in one machine, which can be as small as 10 x 8 inches and as big as 17 x 12 inches in length and width. Also, because of its size, its cooling system, e.g. fan is small and tends to be quieter than a desktop computer. So, using it in a shared room, while your roommate is asleep is no problem at all.

Laptops also utilize minimal power consumption because it can be powered mostly by rechargeable battery. Once it is charged, the AC adapter can be removed and the laptop can be used for an approximate average of 4 to 6 hours. There are some laptops that use specialized batteries that can stand for about 11 hours without AC power. So, for those who want lesser electric charges, laptops are perfect for you.
