Most Common PC Problems

Does your computer usually not respond? Having PC (personal computer) problems is not a common dilemma nowadays, especially with the increasing number of computer technicians. But before going to an expert, you have to check first, if the problem is something you can easily solve. Here are some tips to resolve the most common PC problems.

One of the most common PC problems is a non-responding computer (showing only a black screen). Check plugs and cords and make sure that they are connected properly and on the right places. Make sure that your computer and all the devices included are turned on. Restart or reboot your computer. If you are unable to restart your computer properly, you may press the power button for a few seconds then press again after about 10 seconds. Making a back-up in an external hard drive, can save you a lot of extra work load, in case your computer crashes and all your files are either damaged or lost.

Another one of the most common PC problems is low-speed performance. This is usually caused by too much clutter in your system. Your hard drive should have 5 to 10 percent of its space free in order to reach its optimum performance. You may delete some of your unwanted files or programs. You may also use the Disk Cleanup in the Accessories (under the System Tools) of the Start Menu, to delete further unused files. You should also defragment your hard drive to reorganize your files and its free spaces and thus, to improve your performance. Disable unused programs that start automatically upon windows startup.

Difficulty in the installation of new programs is also one of the most common PC problems. First, make sure that your computer meets the minimum system requirement (MSR) of the program. If it doesn’t, either get a new program that has the same capability but has MSR that is applicable to your PC, or upgrade your PC to meet the MSR of the program you want to install. Also, check if you have enough memory in your hard drive. You may also try restarting your computer to allow your computer to recognize the new installed program.

In cases where you are unable to fix any of the most common PC problems written above, you should try the Help and Support program. If you have Windows OS, the simplest way to open the Help and Support program is to press F1. If the Help and Support program is still unable to help you, you have to realize that you might have reached your limitation and doing more by yourself, might do more harm than good. So, get a computer technician to assist you or get the attention of the customer support department of the software manufacturer of your computer.
